“The greatest champion was my dad. Imagine: France Speed Skating recordman on 500 and 1500 m, France Gold Medallist in 1925, 26 and 27 on 500, 1500, 5000 and 10000 meters, he was as well seven times France Gold Medallist in Ice Hockey, European Gold Medallist in 1924; he took part of the Olympic Games in 1924, 28 and 36 and he was recognised as one of the three best European players.”

We can say that grandpa Hassler was mastering the speed ice oval, and Chamonix’s massive open sky ice rink. It is only natural to see his kids and grandkids almost born with skates on their feet !

“My dad was my true initiator and only coach. In our family we liked the full ice skating spectrum Speed, Hockey, Danse and Figure skating. I practiced a lot, up to those special moves that drew beautiful graphs on the ice and that people like to do at the beginning of the century.” (Patinage magazine, Feb-march 1987)
